Miikka Kiprusoff's Number to Be Honored
Historic Goaltender for the Flames
A Legacy of Excellence
Miikka Kiprusoff, the Calgary Flames' all-time wins leader, will soon have his number 34 raised to the rafters at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The announcement marks a fitting tribute to the legendary goaltender who helped lead the Flames to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2004.
Kiprusoff's impressive NHL career spanned 11 seasons, primarily with the Flames. He won the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender in 2006 and the William M. Jennings Trophy for giving up the fewest goals in the league that same year. Kiprusoff was also a finalist for the Vezina Trophy for three consecutive seasons from 2004-2007.
In addition to his individual accolades, Kiprusoff was a key member of the Flames' success on the ice. His steady presence in the net helped the team reach the playoffs eight times during his tenure. He retired in 2013 and remains a beloved figure in Calgary.
The upcoming ceremony to honor Kiprusoff's number is a testament to his exceptional contributions to the Flames and the sport of hockey. His legacy as one of the greatest goaltenders of his generation will forever be etched in the annals of the game.
