Fans in Attendance Receive Commemorative Jersey
The Calgary Flames honored former goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff by retiring his number 34 jersey in a pre-game ceremony on March 2, 2023. Kiprusoff, who played nine seasons with the Flames, became the fourth player in franchise history to have his jersey retired.
The ceremony was an emotional affair, with Kiprusoff visibly moved during his speech. "This is an incredible honor," he said. "I'm so grateful to the Flames organization and the fans for this incredible recognition." All fans in attendance received a commemorative Kiprusoff jersey.
Kiprusoff was a key member of the Flames' 2004 Stanley Cup Finals run, and he won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's top goaltender in 2006 and 2007. He retired in 2013 after 12 seasons in the NHL.
