Lucas Digne Joins Aston Villa on Permanent Transfer

Everton Full-back Makes Move to Premier League Rivals

Transfer Fee Believed to be in Region of £25 Million

Lucas Digne has completed a permanent transfer to Aston Villa from Everton, bringing an end to his three-and-a-half-year spell at Goodison Park. The French left-back has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Villans, with the transfer fee believed to be in the region of £25 million.

Digne joined Everton from Barcelona in the summer of 2018 and quickly established himself as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. He made over 120 appearances for the Toffees, scoring six goals and providing 20 assists.

However, Digne's time at Everton came to an end after a falling-out with manager Rafael Benitez. The 28-year-old was left out of the team for the majority of the first half of the season and was keen to leave the club in January.

Aston Villa have been in the market for a new left-back for some time, and Digne is seen as the ideal replacement for Matt Targett, who joined Newcastle United on loan in January. Digne is a proven Premier League performer, and his arrival is a major boost for Villa's hopes of finishing in the top half of the table.

Digne is a versatile defender who can also play as a wing-back. He is a good crosser of the ball and has a good eye for a pass. He is also a strong tackler and is good in the air.

Digne's arrival is a major coup for Aston Villa and is a sign of their ambition under manager Steven Gerrard.
